Happy Now

“Without stars the sky is emotionless”
The street light whispers in the night,
As the silhouette of a curious cat,
Steps out from under the light.
“Yes I know but they're still there,”
Her voice calls from out the black,
“Even if you cannot see them my dear.”
She whispers without looking back.
So the street light wondered of them,
Now that his world had fallen to woe,
Do they twinkle, Do they shine,
Worried that he would never know.
“There was a time when I was great”
Said the street light to a passing car,
“Yes, yes” it dismissed the light,
“Sure you are, sure you are.”
The street light nodded lethargically,
And let the days pass him by.
He remembered the star that would accompany him,
From up in the navy blue sky.
“Their love was a love that should not be”
He whispered quietly to himself.
The old lady below him shuffled away,
He put another poem up on the shelf.
He pondered upon the dark beyond,
Of how the love he had could remain,
When he fell upon a saddened urge,
To see that star again.
He watched the heavens night after night,
And thought “She's bound to fade away.
No, yes, no yes no and so,
Oh we must have it either way.”
He wished unto her a life without him,
For he wished unto her happiness.
He dreamed of her once every night,
Oh he missed his beloveds sweet kiss.
He was not so kind to her in the past,
He makes her cry with such heartfelt ease.
For she loves him so and he does her,
But their happiness fell into the breeze.
A shadow came between them,
And she survived by the grace of her heart,
But his woe was a storm of shame and desire,
And his pain then tore him apart.
So his will for her was to smile,
Was to find what she deserved to find.
He was to wonder, forever and ever,
if only in the back of his mind.
One day the cat returned to him,
She asked “why do you look so gray”
“I loved a love that should not be,
So the fates then took her away.”
She cocked her head to an angle “so strange”
She thought as she walked to his side.
“Oh well, that's life, move on my friend.”
“I can't, for I've already tried...”
“Silly light” she thought as she decided to go,
Fickle as cats tend to be.
“Do you ever wonder what happened to her?
Now that the fates have set her free?”
“The thought of it pains me irreparably,
I fear my heart could stop at any time.”
“you speak as though any outcome she found,
could possibly be of love's crime?”
“nay, It's not that but my heart does not know,
that the fates decided without me”
He paused and thought before continuing on,
“but my heart doest want her to be happy.”
And at that, at mid day the clouds went away,
And the blue of the sky turned to glass,
And as though twas night upon this street light,
He watched as the stars would pass.
And into the black, way far at the back,
She shined a bright shine indeed.
For she found the one love in the sky up above,
And brought peace to a streetlight in need.

Of course the street light was looking away.

if you could feel what i feel than maybe we could figure it out. if you could know what i know, than you would know what this is about. do not pause nor hesitate, do not think thoughts of hate, for you do not know, no you cannot know, and corrections are far too late. this poem half way has something to say, but it's colored bitter and gray, though twas not quite like, a painful spike, i colored it anyway. for in a way it's close enough, in a way it's good, for it portrays an event not quite as it was, but does exactly as it should.
